Seneca Wallace started his athletic career at Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, California. While attending, he was a letterman in both football and basketball. He also earned All-Sierra Conference honors and All-Sacramento honorable mention honors in basketball.
 
After high school, Wallace attended Sacramento City College for two years then transferred to Iowa State for his junior and senior years. In two years at Iowa State, he started all 25 games while throwing for 5,289 yards and 26 touchdowns, which rank 5th and 7th in Iowa State history. In 2001 against Baylor, he broke the school record for completion percentage in a game (.917, 22-24). In 2002, he broke the school record for total offense vs. Missouri with 493 yards. He also had a comeback win against in-state rival Iowa, where Iowa State was down 24-7 at half before scoring 29 points in the second half to win 36-31. He set the single season passing record for Iowa State in 2002, when he passed for 3,245 yards. He also rushed for 912 yards and 15 touchdowns in his Iowa State career.
 
He is famously known for “The Run,” where he covered more than 60 yards. He started the play on the 12-yard line and ran back to the 32-yard line while under pressure before running it in for a touchdown against Texas Tech. While attending Iowa State, he earned Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2001 and was Second-team All-Big 12 his senior season in 2002. Wallace was also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which was awarded to the nation’s most outstanding senior or fourth-year quarterback. In two years at Iowa State, he led the Cyclones to the 2001 Independence and 2002 Humanitarian Bowls. In 2019, Wallace was inducted into the Iowa State University Hall of Fame. He was drafted as the 10th pick in the 4th round by the Seattle Seahawks coming out of college.
 
 
While playing for the Seahawks, Wallace started in 14 games. In 2008, he started in 8 games and passed for 1532 yards and 11 touchdowns. He led the league in Passing Touchdown to Interception Ratio that year with 3.67.
 
In 2010, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he signed a three year deal. In 2013, Wallace signed with the Green Bay, where he became the first ever African-American to start a game as quarterback for the Packers.
 
Today, Wallace lives in Dallas, Texas, where he coaches high school football at the Episcopal School of Dallas. He owns two Wingstop franchises-one in Ames and one in Des Moines.
